A wood burning stove would be in the basment and it is hooked up to a fan which circulates the air throughout your house. The problem is keeping up on it. If the fire goes out or you cant get it started you will be cold. You have to make sure everything is working properly or you could come home to a house full of smoke. Also make sure your chimney is cleaned often. Not a good thing if you have asthma or allergies b/c they cause a lot of dust. They're a lot cheaper to fuel and once they get going your house will be really warm! A fireplace would probably we in your living room.
