A wood burning stove (or pot belly stove) can be put anywhere in a house, not just a wall as long as you can run the exaust pipe thru the roof

A fireplace would probably we in your living room. A wood burning stove would be in the basment and it is hooked up to a fan which circulates the air throughout your house. The problem is keeping up on it. If the fire goes out or you cant get it started you will be cold. You have to make sure everything is working properly or you could come home to a house full of smoke. Also make sure your chimney is cleaned often. Not a good thing if you have asthma or allergies b/c they cause a lot of dust. They’re a lot cheaper to fuel and once they get going your house will be really warm!

A fireplace is built into the wall, while a wood stove is free standing. An exhaust pipe comes out of the wood stove and is vented through a wall or the roof. Hope this helps.

a fireplace is usually a masonry structure with a firebrick firebox or a steel insert…a woodstove is freestanding and can be located anywhere you have access to a chimney…

  5. Jo L says:

on is a stove that has a smoke stack that has to be vented out your wall and the fireplace is stationary inside a wall. wether it is wood or gas or electric.

  6. gr8fires.co.uk says:

Fireplaces are traditionally inset into a wall or a chimney breast, a stove is a free standing appliance which can be built into a chimney breast or a fireplace but may also be fitted along a wall, infront of a window or even in the centre of a room provided there is a flue for it.
