The Backpacker’s Mini Forge Wood Stove

NCHiker1970 asked:

This is a mini forge that is made to pack away neatly after cooking. Fuel supply is on the trail so no need to worry about running out. Fuel can be anything from pine cones, tree bark, to twigs. Stove burns hot and can boil 24oz of water in around 4 minutes 5 seconds. Its a compact stove that can hold a multitude of pots ranging from the Heineken Pot to a K-mart Grease pot and even bigger. It is able to be used with or without the fan which runs off a 9 Volt battery.

With the battery this stove weighs in at 5.6 oz. But I am working on reducing the size and the weight. The prototype I have right now is weighing in at 4.5 oz . When I get a new fan motor I will post a video of that one.

That is where I got my basic idea from but I wanted something I could stow very compact. I have even put an alcohol stove inside like you did with your BushBuddy.

Awesome stove and video! The fan idea reminds me of the Sierra stove only your stove looks more stable and durable.

I bet you could burn wood pellets out in the backyard just for the hell of it but not on the trail. but that is a kick ass stove.

Yup all done, Take it out? I suppose you could take it on your next trip. While you have it out on the trail you could do a review on it then.

I see you finished it. This goes to show you that a person can build a Seirra Zip Stove if they set the mind to it. When do I get to take it out and give it a test run? Let me guess you still want to work a bug or two out of it? Going to have to let me take it out and do a review on it.

I think that it was just a reflection from the flames and the light I used to record this video.

I have used it before and it works great Bill! I pulled out some charcoal I made a few weeks ago and burned that inside this little guy and it got HOT! Warped the bottom of my Kmart Grease Pot.
