I like the first point you made there, but I am not sure I could reasonably apply that in a contructive way.

Put a check valve just before the arrestor, good insurance policy

Check valve does not work. Mine flashed past the valve. Bronze wool moderately packed about 3" starting from the tip works very well. I also put bronze wool at the end of the hose where it attaches to the HHO cell.

Doesn't work. The HHO ignites so fast that the pressure will move in ALL directions equally & a hole with a cork will not work. If that were true, then my hose should have been blown loose of my cell. I put the hose on very loose, but when I got a flashback, it blew up the cell (4" PVC). Use bronze wool as arrestor in at least 2 places, at the tip & at the connector to the cell. You'll be ok.

just some thoughts ...
have you tried to light the flame in the water that you are heating ???
make a small combustion chamber in the water
with an igniter across the injecton port
the hydrogen / oxygen will burn
and all heat is transfered to the water -
no waste heat
the gasses are then condensed back into water

just a thought ;-)

Thats not good, i made a HHO pump action launcher, the check valve worked fine, i didnt have any blow back what so ever.

Sirhoax .. What would happen if you included a steady stream of NO2 into the flame?

I'd like to make one request. Please stop referring to this as HHO. HHO is H2O, water. Water doesn't burn. You are electrolyzing water into hydrogen and oxygen. Then, you are allowing them to mix in the volume above the water in the electrolyzer.
Also, please be extremely careful. You are working with a premixed hydrogen/oxygen gas. As you noted, if your flashback arrestor fails, the electrolyzer will most likely explode.
