We bought this item to bring some warmth to a breezeway that sits between our garage and kitchen. The room functions as a sitting room in warmer weather...until now. The only heat source for the room was that being pulled from the kitchen by opening the sliding glass door. We now use the stove to supplement that little bit of heat. It is more than adequate. The space is now a four season room in New England. The breezeway is only about 200 square feet so the product is appropriate in every way. The "flame" pattern is much supperior to the dozen or so other electric stoves and fireplaces that we visited. A friend of ours had another Dimplex model and we were impressed with the "fire." This model features a thermostat and on/off remote. The specs say it cost 8cents an hour to use the heater? Haven't gotten the first electric bill yet. All things considered, we love it.

I would highly recommend this to someone I didn't like very well. It broke in to pieces within minutes of unloading it. However, I am giving it 2 stars because when I plugged it in it still looked pretty good besides being all cattywampus. It's going back though, and if I do get another one it won't be this model. I am giving my niece the smaller version(CS3311)for her apartment and it's pretty nice. I would go for it or the little Delonghi. Good luck in your quest for fire.

Hi all- half the reason I shop at Amazon is because of these comprehensive reviews. I have a finished basement with two separate rooms. With this baby in the main room and just the door open to the next room it will get so hot it can drive people out of the basement. Given that gas prices were so high, I wanted to supplement with electric- heck, now I leave the gas off and just use this heater because it is so efficient and cute! Don't let it's looks fool you though- it gets hot. The only other things I'd like to have was actual thermostat control, a timer and the ability to shut the 'flame' off and just blast heat. But- I'm not complaining- this thing works! And it got here quickly. PS: I live in NH so when I say it heats, it heats- even at 6 below outside the basement was nice and warm.

I own this stove. I also own the Dimplex electric fireplace log insert. Dimplex products are somewhat more expensive than others, but they out-perform them, and the company customer service really stands behind their products (they replaced the remote control box without argument despite it being beyond the 1 year warranty period). This traditional heater looks authentic, the flame function is a beautiful recreation of an actual fire - and the heater can literally drive you out of a 20'X 20' room if you turn it all the way up. As I said, I bought their fireplace insert after my success with this stove. It too has a beautiful visual effect and a capable, dependable heater. If you buy this stove (or any similar makes) you may want to consider doing what I've done: that is to buy four wooden "bun" furniture feet at a hardware store, paint them flat black and use them under the four stove legs. This raises the heater box (on the stove bottom) off the carpet about 2". Raising the stove a little higher givers a better appearance and provides more airflow through the actual heater making it more efficient since it can blow farther from the unit. As a final note I'm looking at the dimplex compact version for my mother in W. New York.
