You bet! They are so common around where I live and have a superb reputation. My buddy Dan has their Princess insert and said it heats great. He had to buy the oversize surround because the fireplace opening was so large. But he said it cut his heating bill to nearly zero! (He has access to lots of firewood.)

I am remodeling my home in Ketchikan Alaska.
I am looking at replacing my two Inserts with a couple of Blaze King Princess inserts.
I really want to get away from oil and wanted to know if you are really happy with the product.

The new BK’s have a bypass that lets all the moisture created in the first few critical minutes escape through the chimney. Your stove would not offer the bypass, so the cooler, moist smoke will plug the combustor. I cut my wood use by 25% this winter by using a new stove. There are lots of nice stoves on the market, but when I called the company that makes Blaze King’s catalytic converters, they told me they were the best and almost zero warranty issues. Thanks.

I have an old Blaze King princess, without a catalytic or secondar burner. I would like to retrofit if possible, with a secondary burn chamber. Ever heard of anyone doing this? Nice video. Bob in Juneau, AK

Yes it’s the King model. They number is 1107

I have two of them now. My house and shop both stay warm. Oregon gave me a $300 tax credit plus a credit for the cord wood. I saw a deal on TV where Yakima gave folks up to $3000 if theya had an old stove that did not have government approval. Check it out, it could save you some cash on the deal if they have a deal for where you live.

Thanks. The 2 x 4’s are not commercial and are not chemically treated. They come right from the mill. The thermostat on the stove provides a absolute even burn. I don’t need to worry about over firing. With my old stoves I have always had to adjust the damper to keep the house even temp…which never worked quite right. But with this thing, no babysitting! I did get some larch for the next winter and I am letting it cure….

that is definitely amazing. i like the thing you made to demonstrate what it does. just to let you know though, burning scrap 2×4s will ruin your cat way quicker than burning good firewood. shop stove–i know, not an issue. anyways, excellent vid.

I bought a Regency fireplace insert wood stove, and it was non-catalytic. Can these be retrofitted? My stove is great, or so I thought, but it never holds a fire overnight. 3-4 hours maximum.

You must have the King model like I do. Yea, two big armloads will fit at a time. I guess it has been at least ten years since I rebuilt mine. The catalyst has gone down hill for the last couple of years. I’ll get it back in shape soon. When woorking well, 24 hour burn times are no problem on Douglas Fir. Even longer on some hardwoods. The secret is dry wood. The burn time never fails to impress people.

Thanks…I can’t believe that this thing holds 90 lbs of wood! I read all over the web by owners that the catalyst can last 10 or more years. So I’m putting $30 a year away so in 10 years I can buy a new one. My old stove burned 3 times as much wood in the same space and never held a fire overnight!!!

They are nice stoves. Mom bought a new princess model in 1985 or so. I bought a used King model a few years back and rebuilt it w/ a new catalyst and seals. Both have the oven style door w/ no window. Just checked on another catalyst, wow the price has gone up. Your bypass handle works different. they must have changed the design. On ours, the handle is vertical when open, to close, you pull the handle forward and down. Thanks for the video

Thanks! I paid $2300 and installed myself into an existing 15′ chimney..That’s the total from the stove to the cap.

Nice demonstration - great stove. How much does this stove sell for? What is the diameter of your stove pipe, looks like 8″? How meny feet from the stove flue to the chimney opening above the roof?

Bob - Did you find a way to retro a cat conveter or a secondary burn in your old Blaze King? Email me if you did. I have the same problem. magicplumbinginc@yahoo.com
