Product Description |
| The original. Stokes hot coals and embers in BBQs, campfires and fireplaces. Cuts prep time mess and the taste of lighter fluid. Originates from Brazil, which means it goes well with a thong. Just crank the handle and watch your glowing embers blaze!
The unit will not produce greater 'air volume' no matter how fast or hard you crank the handle. By steadily cranking the handle, you will get the maximum amount of 'air volume' which the product produces.
Over cranking the unit or stopping the unit handle from free spinning when in use, will cause damage and in some cases, breakage, to the units internal gears. |

Air Grill gears fail during first use

THE INTERNAL GEARS OF THIS PRODUCT EASILY STRIP AND YOU'VE GOT NOTHING BUT A PAPER WEIGHT.
I received the Air Grill as a present and had a chance the next day to try it out. I got one fire going (it did initially work) but it started making a racket on the 2nd fire and halfway through completely failed. The friend who originally got it for me sent it back for a refund. I then bought their heavy duty one thinking the gears were stronger but this one failed on the 1st time out. Bottom line -- UNTIL THEY REPLACE THE GEAR MECHANISM WITH SOMETHING STRONGER I WOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. Also their customer support is non-existent (there is no phone number on their site) and they don't answer emails. I have sent two emails asking for some resolution and have not received any response. |
worked great, for 1 month.

| worked great for approx 1 month. Used it maybe 20/25 times. then it started to make a noise from inside the unit and became harder to crank with less air flow coming out. |
Blown Money

| I bought one of these blowers from a local store and it worked pretty good for about a month , after that it started getting very hard to crank. I thought maybe someone dropped it or over cranked it so I ordered a couple of them from Amazon.com. When I received them right out of the box they had the same problem, you can barley crank the thing. Would not recommend this to anyone. |
Brilliantly Simple

| At first touch, I thought this product was too light and possibly gutless to do the job, but I was gladly mistaken upon the first use. I have used it to stoke campfires, the grill, and even to power up my forge (I'm a knife maker) with nothing but success. For the price, you can't find a better tool for enhancing fire ferocity. It is also lightweight and compact, perfect for packing with your camping gear or survival kit. |
Great idea, very poor quality

I just received my air grill, and used it for my first fire. I've used a similar fan bellows I bought at Restoration Hardware for 12 years, but it finally died. No complaints there, 12 years was a fair life.
I couldn't find the large, metal, Restoration one again, but came across this, which appeared to be the same idea, only in plastic and a bit smaller.
The idea is a great idea. It really works. The problem? Build quality. The air grill is a cheap piece of plastic junk. It worked for precisely one fire before dying. Granted, I could have babied it, and maybe got 10 fires. It would still be a piece of junk though.
If the same thing were manufactured in something durable, like my old one, I recommend it highly. Its cheap enough that if it were manufactured to last a season, I'd still recommend it highly. But its manufactured to last a week at best.
If someone knows of a well built version, please post it. I'd say buy this at your own risk, but no risk - its certain to break on you if you use it. |
